If you love being out and about, winter can be a bit of drag. But while activities in areas with a cold winter climate can be limited, never fear – there are still plenty of fun and exciting activities in the Columbus area if you’re willing to brave a little cold weather to get there. After over 25 years of serving as the premier roofing company in the Columbus area, Muth & Company Roofing has learned a thing or two about what makes our city great. We’d like to share just a few of the many wonderful attractions and events Columbus currently has to offer.
The Arnold Sports Festival (Mar. 1-4, 2018)
If you’re a sports fan, you won’t want to miss the Arnold Sports Festival, which is the largest multi-sport event in the world. Held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the main attractions are the professional bodybuilding and strongman competitions. Overall, there will be over 75 sports and events in which athletes can compete. With an estimated 20,000 athletes from 80 countries participating, you can spend the entire weekend at the festival and never get bored.
Price: $15 in advance, $20 at the door
Blooms and Butterflies (Mar. 10-Sept. 16, 2018)
Do you enjoy nature, but aren’t quite ready to get outside and brave the elements? Why not spend the day at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens? At the Pacific Island Water Garden for Blooms and Butterflies, you can take in the awe-inspiring sight of hundreds of vibrant butterflies flitting among a variety of bright tropical blooms. Get up close with the butterflies at one of the twice-daily butterfly releases, or pick up a native Painted Lady caterpillar from the Botanica Gift Shop to raise and release.
Price: Included with Conservatory admission
Center of Science and Industry (COSI)
If you have a little one (or a not-so-little one), COSI is a great place to go when they start to get  stir-crazy at home. COSI is a kids’ science museum in downtown Columbus that not only has a Little Kidspace play area complete with water activities and an art studio, but also interesting exhibits geared toward older kids. In addition, there are several add-on experiences for an additional cost: the National Geographic giant screen theater, the planetarium and a motion simulator. With plenty to keep the whole family engaged, it’s no wonder COSI is a popular winter destination.
Price: Adults 13+ $25; Youth 2-12 $20, Under 2 Free
